What is SR-Serenity?
Insomnia affects about 20% of the adult population in the U.S. SR-Serenity supports a healthy sleep cycle from several different angles. Drawing from strong clinical science, the all-natural ingredients in this formula have been shown to initiate sleep and promote calmness and relaxation.
Who needs SR-Serenity?
This product is for the 70 million Americans affected by sleeplessness who need a non-habit forming solution to their restlessness and/or night time anxiety. SR-Serenity is also helpful for jet lag as it is effective for resetting the circadian rhythm (sleep cycle).
Is SR-Serenity safe?
The ingredients in this formula have a long history of therapeutic use for sleep and mood support. Do not use this product if you take a SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) drug like Prozac, Paxil, or Zoloft , as ingredients in this product may interfere with the effectiveness of these types of medications.
What is in SR-Serenity?
Valerian root
Valerian has been used as a medicinal herb since at least the time of ancient Greece and Rome. Hippocrates described its properties, and Galen and the Greek physician Dioscorides later prescribed it as a remedy for insomnia among other things, like digestive problems. Generally, valerian makes sleep more restful as well as making the transition to sleep easier.
L-Theanine (Suntheanine®)
Since ancient times, it has been said that drinking green tea induces relaxation. The clinical science of green tea found this relaxation effect to be due to the presence of the amino acid L-theanine, found almost exclusively in tea. Clinical research suggests that Suntheanine naturally stimulates activity in the brain known as alpha waves, which are associated with a relaxed mental state that will help to reduce stress and provide a more tranquil sleep.
GABA
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a natural calming and anti-epileptic inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. It appears that many people with anxiety, insomnia, epilepsy, and other brain disorders do not manufacture sufficient levels of GABA.
5-HTP
5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) is a naturally-occurring amino acid and is a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin. People suffering from insomnia, eating disorders, chronic pain, and mood disorders, have been shown to have imbalances in normal serotonin production. 5-HTP has been shown to be effective in treating symptoms of depression. In fact, studies have indicated that 5-HTP is equal to or better than the standard antidepressant drugs like fluvoxamine, a “selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor” (common names Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft).
Melatonin
Melatonin is a natural hormone that regulates the human biological clock. Adults with insomnia have been shown to have lower melatonin levels. Research has also shown that melatonin facilitates sleep, significantly shortens the time needed to go to sleep, reduces the number of night awakenings, and improves sleep quality. Melatonin is also helpful in relieving symptoms of jet lag and it exerts powerful antioxidant activity.
