Revivin (Immunity)
Revivin ias an herbal formula with anti-tumor properties. Its LD50 is 10.0g/kg.
On December 11, 2001 Dr Nakanisji and Dr Bastow at Panacos Pharmaceutical Inc. in Gaithersburg, Maryland assayed YYH-03, an active ingredient in Revivin. Results showed that Revivin exhibited a significant ED50 (effective dose) value when tested in diluted series against several tumor cell lines and showed potent broad spectrum activity.
In a clinical study (Cancer Cell Sensitivity Test), Revivin was compared to several popular chemotherapy agents. For colon, breast and liver cancer, Revivin is more sensitive than Vincristin and Mitomycin. For colon and liver cancer, Revivin is more sensitive than 5-Fu. For breast and cervical cancer, Revivin is more sensitive than Cis-Platin.
A new study shows that Revivin suppressed Glioblastoma U87MG cells in mice in a time and dose dependent manner (IC50=3.6µM). Glioblastoma is the most common malignant brain tumor. Further studies reveal that Revivin's anti-tumor property may be due to induction of apoptosis (Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters. 2006; 16(17):4575-4580).
