Angiostop Mechanism
* Inhibits receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs): vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGFR), epithelial growth factor (EGFR), platelet derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR), and fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR).
* Inhibits angiogenesis - stops new blood vessel formation.
* Induces apoptosis - by cutting off their nutrient and blood supply, tumor cells eventually die.
The surface of cancer cells has special molecules, such as growth factor receptors. Examples of these molecules are VEGFR, EGFR, PDGFR, and FGFR. Binding of these receptors to their respective growth factors initiates key cell functions such as cell division. However, overexpression of growth factors causes unrestrained activation of receptors (tyrosine kinases), leading to uncontrolled cell division. As a consequence, various forms of cancer and other proliferative conditions result. To prevent uninhibited growth, binding of growth factors to their receptors and the associated signaling must be blocked. This is called RTK inhibition.
Because the dominant receptor(s) may very in every case, some people may not respond as well to an RTK inhibitor that attacks only a single RTK. This is why the latest RTK inhibitor drugs to be approved have mulitple targets. Angiostop has been shown to have inhibitory effects on 4 different RTKs. Therapies that target a wide range of RTKs will provide more effective and long-term anti-angiogenic effects than those that target a limited number of RTKs.
Clinic studies indicate that a VEGFR inhibitor like Avastin is more effective as a first-line treatment than as a second-line treatment for colorectal cancer (ASCO Annual Meeting - May 2005). The downside to Avastin is the cost. Even without the necessary adjuvant treatment, Avastin can cost approximately $4,400.00 per month. With chemo, it can be very expensive. Patients not taking Avastin may consider taking Angiostop as a supplement. Angiostop mat be taken with chemotherapy for better results.
Studies show that surgery/biopsy increases cancer recurrence and spread of the disease ( Arch Surg. 2004; 139:634-640; Intl J Surgery. Sep 2005; Lancet. 2002 June 29; 359(9325): 2224-9) have prompted researchers to suggest that the use of angiogenesis inhibitors like Angiostop before and after surgery will help minimize and spread of disease.
Case Reports:
* S Young, ND fromCO, reports on S.P. (40 year old female) who has stage 4 breast cancer and was 155lbs. In March 2003, she lost 20 lbs., her breast cancer marker, CA27.29, was 973 and she was in pain. She took Angiostop, etc. 2 1/2 months later her cancer marker dropped more than 300 points. She has no pain, has gained weight and feels much better.
* G Farkas, MD fromCA, has a 41 year old male, with colorectal cancer that metastasized to the liver and the lung who used Avastin + 5FU for 5 weeks (3 treatments) and his CEA reduced from 8 to 6.9. Then added Angiostop and the entire Chi program. After 4 weeks, his CEA level further dropped to 3.6.
* KG, DC from VA, had needle biopsies in 2 areas of his prostate, revealing high-grade PIN (prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia). This is considered as a precursor lesion to prostatic carcinoma. About 30% of men with high-grade PIN develope clinical syptoms of prostate cancer within a year. Around Sep 2005, he started taking Angiostop and Myomin. Five months later, another biopsy showed that the abnormal growth is gone (high-grade PIN disappeared). In Aug 2006, his PSA dropped from 12 to 3.06.
* V rakitin, ND from IL, has a 50 year old male with small lung carcinoma that has metastasized to the lung (6-cm tumor), the pancreas (6-cm tumor) and to the kidney (2-cm tumor). After 2 months on the program + 2 courses of chemo, both tumors in the pancreas and kidneys were gone and his lung tumor reduced by 60%. A month later, his lung tumor reduced by 90%.
* G Dillague, MD fromCA, has a 47 year old female witha brain tumor (35 mm diameter). She did not experience any progress after undergoing chemo and suffered from severe weakness and cognitive impairment. She had given up on chemo when she started taking Angiostop, Reishi Spore, Asparagus Extract and Chi Energy. After 3 months, the tumor reduced to 7 mm in diameter. Her energy also tremendously increased. Her mental processes have also improved greatly.
* SL, a 57 year old female from IL, had vaginal bleeding in Feb 2007. She was recommended Angiostop and Myomin immediately. Almost a month later, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer that has metastasized to the lungs. There was a 12.5x8.9x8.3cm3 tumor in the left ovary and a 0.5x1.4cm2 in the lung. She had ovarian surgery and was recommended Carboplatin and Taxol chemotherapy. On march 30, before her 1st chemo course and with the herbs, her CA.125 was 154. This reduced to 48.5 before the 2nd chemo, then to 20 before the 3rd chemo. On June 6th, 4 months after she started the herbs and before the 4th chemo, her CA.125 dropped to 13.1. In July, it further dropped to 6.0.
